Balloons is one of the multiplayer games on Poptropica. The objective is basically to get all of your color’s balloons into a line of four together – it can be straight or diagonal. Here’s what the game card for Balloons looks like, except that the win/loss number is the number of wins or losses on your own account:
Starting the Game
To start a game of Balloons, first head over to the nearest multiplayer room. Click on the person you wish to battle, and 2 options will appear over the player’s head: Chat and Battle. Click on “Battle”, and a list of games will show up. Click on “Balloons”, which is the second game listed, between Soupwords and Star Link. The other player will be given the choices “Sure!” or “No, thank you!”. If they choose “Sure!”, the game will begin, but if they say “No, thank you!” or don’t answer you, you’ll need to find someone else to play with you.
How To Play
Click on a nozzle to release a balloon. The first person to get four balloons in a row wins! You can line them up straight or diagonally.

Gameplay
Each player will be on opposite sides of the screen – one player has the red balloons, the other has the blue balloons. There will be nozzles lined up on the ground, and each player takes turns to release a balloon. Clicking on a nozzle when it is your turn will have your color’s balloon float all the way to the top of the grid, like a helium-filled balloon should. It is a 5 x 4 grid, which means the maximum amount of balloons per game should be 20. When it is your turn, don’t hesitate for too long – or else your turn will get skipped!
Winning
Because there are no points in this game, the only way to win is to get your color’s balloons lined up in a row of four – straight (row or column) or diagonally. The game ends when someone has won, or if the whole grid is filled. If the whole grid is filled and there is no winner, it is a tie. If the game ends, the winner’s balloons will turn orange (as shown below) and all the other balloons on the grid will pop. In the picture below, it shows that the game is over. That’s why there’s an empty space on the left causing the balloons below to float – because that balloon popped!
Player Tips
- By Shaggy Tornado:
Put a balloon on either side of the middle, then put a balloon in the middle itself. Then if the opponent blocks the sides, I can try to put the balloons in a diagonal. - By Silverwolf1:
Always try to put a balloon in a corner. It’s easier to make a diagonal this way. - By Zany Dragon:
Keep an eye on your opponent’s balloons to make sure they don’t have an almost-row. If they do, block it. While doing this, also try to make your own row. The diagonals are usually the hardest to spot, so this is important for those especially.

Adam, dont you mean baloons is like connect four?
Scary Tomato: Probably, yes… Find Four and Connect Four are the same game, just with different names.

I call it connect four. But the counters/balloons are inserted the opposite way around.
Scary Tomato: Yep, there is a game called Connect Four – but it’s a little different.

Scary Tomato, the Creator’s Blog added a post of a Big Nate comic strip called New Years Resolutions, OK?
Scary Tomato: I saw that. I usually don’t bother to post Big Nate comics, though. Only a few times.

I know, but I don’t think you get a higher battle ranking. I’ve tried it. And I don’t think it’s a glitch.

It is a good idea if you start first to head straight for the middle. That way, you may get to put one on the left and right, so you can win either way. (like if you have 3 in the middle, you can put one on either side and you win, even if the other player puts one on the side)

My way of playing this game is that I put a balloon on either side of the middle then I put a balloon in the middle itself. Then if the opponent blocks the sides, I can try to put the balloons in a diagonal.
ST: Great tip! I’ve added it to this page now.

What I do is I try to make a diagonal, and while the other player is making a vertical and is thinking I’m being dumb, I catch him off guard at the last moment! And of course, it’s to late for him/her to recover so I win! This is my 2nd favorite game!

I have a tip: ALWAYS try to put a balloon in a corner. It’s easier to make a diagonal.
Hijuyo: Thanks, your tip has been added to the game guide.

How long is a turn(if you keep waiting) How long will you get?
Hijuyo: I don’t know exactly, but long enough for you to actually make use of your turn. You could try and time how long you get.
